I am not Thai citizen; can I open an account?

Yes, anyone can open an account with us. However, US citizens cannot open an account with us at the moment. For foreigners who are residing in Thailand, you can open an account via StashAway application by following the steps outlined below.

Required documents 

1. e-Passport with a minimum validity of 3 months. 

(An e-passport is a traditional passport with an embedded electronic microprocessor chip that can be used to verify the bearer's identity. If your passport is non-electronic, please contact our support team)

2. Proof of address that clearly shows your full name and current address in Thailand dated within the last 3 months (e.g. utility bills, phone bills, bank statements, credit card bills, or work permits).

Steps to Open a StashAway Account for Non-Thai Citizens

1. Download StashAway application.

2. Click "Start Investing" to create your StashAway Account.

3. Fill in your information, complete a financial assessment, and create a sample portfolio.

4. Fill in your personal information and verify your identity.

5. To verify your identity, check if you have a valid passport and proof of your current address with you.  If you do, proceed to the next step by clicking 'I Have These Documents with Me' to continue the account opening process.

6. Use your phone’s camera to scan the photo page of your passport, ensuring that the page remains within the frame.

7. Scan the embedded chip in your passport, which could be located on either the back or front cover of your passport; the location varies by country. Make sure to remove any mobile cases and passport covers.

  • Place your phone on the cover of your passport with the screen facing upward.
  • The NFC function will scan for a chip. If the chip isn’t detected, you may gently move your phone to another area where the chip is located.
  • Once detected, hold your phone still and firmly for 5-10 seconds until the scanning is completed.

8. Take a selfie, ensuring that your face is in the center of the camera with proper lighting. Remove any accessories, including your glasses and medical mask.

9. Upload ‘proof of current address’ - you can either ‘Upload now’ or ‘Send later’ if you don’t have any documents with you.

10. Confirm your email by clicking the verification link that we sent to your registered email.

11. Read and click accept the ‘Account Opening Agreement’

The account verification process will take 3-5 business days. Once verified, you will receive an email notification from us.
