StashAway Thailand Joins Global ETF Leaders at ETFGI Asia Pacific Summit to Discuss the Future of ETF Investing in Thailand

Jirawin Tochirakul, Managing Director of StashAway Thailand, joined global ETF industry leaders at the 7th Annual ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit – Asia Pacific, held virtually on 10 September 2026, to share his perspective on how Thai investors are accessing and using ETFs today.

Jirawin took part in the panel "Thailand's ETF Market: Evolution & Outlook," alongside Rin Narakornpijit, Co-Portfolio Manager at Kasikorn Asset Management, and moderated by Deborah Fuhr, Founder & Managing Partner of ETFGI. The session examined how access to ETFs in Thailand has changed in recent years, what Thai investors are actually buying, and where the industry is headed next.

Speaking from StashAway's vantage point on the distribution side of the market, Jirawin noted that access to global investment products has expanded significantly for Thai investors over the past five to six years.

"If you go back five or six years, the typical route into investing for a Thai retail investor was a bank branch or a broker relationship, and what they bought was mostly domestic," Jirawin said. "Today, we have many more global investment options as well as digital platforms in the market – whether banking applications, brokerages, private funds, or robo-advisors. Awareness, access, and adoption for offshore investment products are higher than before."

He pointed to rising financial awareness, domestic market performance, and the growth of digital platforms as the key forces reshaping investor behaviour, while noting that core global exposure – rather than thematic bets – continues to make up the bulk of long-term portfolios.

Jirawin points out that access is no longer the industry's biggest challenge. What hasn't been solved is behaviour – specifically, holding through a drawdown, and not changing strategy at exactly the wrong moment. This is not a Thailand problem, it's an industry-wide frontier. The industry's next job is less about launching more products and more about helping people stay invested in what they already own.
